About this example
The course profile describes Tom Hale, a sole trader in Burgess Hill, as the owner of Truegrain Carpentry. Tom and the business contact details are fictional. The enquiry policy below demonstrates what a real business would need to explain and approve before use.
Visiting the website
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical information, such as your IP address, browser details and request logs, to deliver and protect the website. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for its handling of this information.
No analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies have been added to the website code. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, map software from cdnjs and map tiles from OpenStreetMap. These providers receive technical connection information, including your IP address, when your browser requests those resources.
Read the providers' notices: Google Fonts privacy information, Cloudflare and cdnjs, and OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
The enquiry helper
The contact page can assemble your answers into an email. Answers stay in the page's memory while it is open. There is no website submission service or stored enquiry database. Choosing the email button opens your email app; an email is sent only if you send it there. The copy button copies the answers to your device's clipboard.
Illustrative business enquiry policy
For a real business, information supplied by phone or email, such as a name, contact details, postcode, photographs and project requirements, would be used to reply to the enquiry and prepare a quote. The usual basis for this processing is taking steps at your request before entering a contract. Any additional use would need to be described separately.
The example retention period is up to two years after the last contact, followed by deletion when no longer needed. This is a course default for enquiries, not an approved retention policy for a trading business or its job and financial records.
Your information rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to request access, correction, erasure or restriction of your personal information, to object to certain uses, and to receive a portable copy. A real business owner would provide working contact details for these requests.
For this example, the contact page displays the fictional details from the course profile: 07700 900123 and tom@truegraincarpentry.co.uk. They are demonstration details and should not be used for privacy requests.
You can find guidance and make a complaint through the Information Commissioner's Office.
Before using this for a real business
These are sensible starting pages, not legal advice. The business owner should read and approve them. Replace the example details and confirm the actual providers, enquiry handling and retention period. Adding analytics or advertising tools requires another privacy and cookie review.
